Cellular & Other Mobile Computing Devices

Cellular and mobile computing devices purchased by Southwest Minnesota State University are state property and fall under the Departments of Finance, Administration, and Employee Relations policy 0807-04, as well as the Departments of Administration and Employee Relations Electronic Communication and Technology Ethics policy, Minnesota State Board Policy 1C.2 and 5.22, and Minnesota Statues 43A.38. The purchase of prepaid cellular phones and prepaid phone cards is prohibited.

Employees who request and obtain a cellular and mobile computing device must complete the Authorization and Annual Review of Cellular and Other Mobile Computing Devices form. This form must be completed upon initial request for a cellular device and annually to determine whether the device is still needed for employee use and whether the existing calling plan still meets users’ needs.

The use of state-purchased cellular and mobile computing devices for personal use is strictly prohibited. Improper use will result in disciplinary action in accordance with applicable laws, rules, procedures, and labor contracts.
