Textbooks and Book Charging

Getting Textbooks

You can find out what books are required for your classes several ways.

  1. If you have already registered for your classes, then you can log in E-Services and click on "Textbook Information." You will be taken to the online Barnes and Noble Bookstore with the textbooks required for your registered classes selected. You can either proceed to checkout or note which books are required.
  2. Go to the SMSU Class Schedule and locate the class in question. Click on the "Textbook Information." You will be taken to a page listing the required book.
  3. You can also visit Barnes and Noble and enter in your class schedule. Barnes and Noble recommends that you place your textbook order on their website early. You can choose delivery options of in-store pickup and have your books waiting and ready when you arrive on campus, or have your books shipped to your home address. Orders that are charged to your student account will be pulled, but they will not be processed until the first day book charging is open, which is two weeks prior to the start of classes.

Book Charging

All students who are registered for at least one SMSU credit and degree seeking may charge up to $1,000 of their books and supplies at the Barnes and Noble on-campus bookstore located in the lower level of the Student Center. Clothing and miscellaneous items are excluded. Book charging at the on-campus bookstore is allowed each semester two weeks prior to classes starting and will end on the fourth day of the semester for online purchases or the fifth day of the semester for on-campus purchases. The cost of the books charged at the on-campus bookstore will be added to your SMSU student account and must be paid either by financial aid funds or personal resources according to normal Business Services payment deadlines.
